Them eyebrows!

Wednesday, July 8, 2015

My eyebrows have taken on a world of their own the last week. I am in desperate need of a catch up with my waxing wonder but time has not been on my side. Something had to be sacrificed and unfortunately for me it was those brows. So please don't judge this busy mumma.

The last week has been amazing, devastating and humbling all in one. All because my first baby turned two. TWO. I know everyone says this but how did this happen so quickly??!!

It has been so freezing cold here the last week and the boys and I have all been fighting colds and coughs so there have been more Peppa Pig marathons and toast dinners then I would like to admit. But when your sick and your babes are sick you do what you've got to do to survive! This has consequently meant that we are out of Vegemite and every day I seem to forget to buy some and every night bang on 9pm I crave some Vegemite toast. My struggle is real....

My thoughts lately consist of counting down to summer and beginning to plan our summer bucket list. And trying to think of creative, affordable and realistic ways to date my husband! So please send me some suggestions!!!

Here is to finding some time to tame my brows ;)

A day for Max

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

On Sunday morning we had Mannix blessed at church. It was such a beautiful day. I was so excited to have a day set aside to just celebrate Max. I am constantly expressing to Daniel my concerns of Max feeling like a "second" child and wanting him to feel just as loved. When you have an almost two year old constantly demanding and often winning your attention this is a never-ending thought. I love my Maxy boy so much and am forever grateful to him for being so patient and so forgiving while I get the hang of this mum of two thing. He fills my heart daily.

We had a small gathering in the afternoon with our close friends and family. Max's room is Woodland themed and I tried to stick to that theme for the day. We had deserts only and it is safe to say that most left in a sugar coma and probably stayed that way for a few hours. Our house remains in the coma as we have been living off left overs.

Ramblings.

Firstly, can we just take a moment to look at the above photo and freak out for the millionith time that we have TWO babies! I still loose my breath when I see photos of us together and remember that they are all mine. Swoon.

Secondly, I have to send a shout out to all the single mummas and mummas whose partners travel/work a ton etc. Daniel has been working heaps the last few weeks so I have had more then a few days on my own from wake up until bed time and some of those in a row. On top of a few long nights with a four month old that wants to party and I am exhausted. Physically, mentally and emotionally. It is hard. I am not going to pretend being a mum is easy, its hard! There is still a long while of long days ahead but I will call on all my mumma strength and hopefully make it. I appreciate my hubby more then ever at times like these. So if things are quiet around here, that is why.

We finally set Maxy's little room up and he has made the transition from the cradle to the cot. He definitely seems to like the cot way better. Max gave me my first taste of a whole nights sleep and has slept through a few times since. He likes to keep me on my toes though and sometimes sleeps through sometimes keeps me up all night. I have decided to stop trying to work out why and just go with the flow. He will figure it out for himself when he is ready.

I am dreaming of toy rooms at the moment. We need to move to a bigger place but we really want our next home to be the one we stay in for a long time so we haven't found "the one" yet. I am set on it having a big toy room though. I can not wait to decorate it. I am toy room pinning crazy at the moment.

Anyway that was a whole lot of nothing but Trey is getting sick of my ramblings so I needed to tell some one :)

Goodnight!

Tuesdays.

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

I just want to start this post by letting everyone know that I have just had my first shower since Saturday. Yep that is correct I almost went three days without a shower. I know, I am grossing myself out at the thought. The truth is I have a teething three month old (no lie) and a million other excuses as to why our life has been so crazy the last few days. When I did have 30 minutes to sneak into the shower I decided to spend it building block towers with my one year old or convincing my three month old that tummy time is actually fun. So while I almost made it to the end of day three without a shower I don't even care. Time is so valuable and my priorities are so different. And I am more then ok with that.

Maxy boy has been teething over the past week. Trey had his first two teeth come through at four months so this early teething thing is nothing new to me. My heart breaks for these boys when they are sick or hurting. It is even harder then the zero hours of sleep I have been getting. I am hoping they come through sooner rather then later so he can have a bit of a break.

Last night I snuck out with my mum and sister to see Cinderella at the movies and grab some sushi. It was so good. The sushi and the sneaking out. I have not been to the movies for SO long so it wouldn't have mattered what we saw - it would have been perfect. I actually liked the movie. It really reminded me of the importance of being a parent and how your example really is the most powerful teaching tool when it comes to raising your children. Thank you Disney!

We are officially half way through the week and I am so excited to spend Easter with my boys and especially excited to finally give Max his own space in our house. We will be doing his spot in the room this weekend. We are desperately needing to move so he can have his own room but until we sort out where we want to go he gets a little special spot. I will share it when it is complete.

Hope your Wednesday brings something awesome!

PS. the above photo was taken pre-shower.....

Early Easter Celebrations!

Sunday, March 29, 2015

Both our families are going away for the Easter weekend this year so we are going to be celebrating one early and one late. This weekend we had all of Daniel's family over for an Easter lunch and an Easter Egg hunt for the kids.

As the boys start to get older holidays are getting so much funner! I almost squeal when I think about Christmas this year.

We had a yummy pork roast for lunch, cooked on the spit of course. It was our best one yet and the crackle was AMAZING. Then I did a little egg hunt for Trey and my nephew as Max and my niece are still too young. I used the plastic eggs that you can put things inside and that way only had to have a few with chocolate eggs inside. They loved this and loved the toys as much as the treats. I was very surprised to see that Trey totally knew what was going on and understood the whole hunt. He was looking and running for the eggs and putting them in his bucket. He did also add some clothes pegs and handfuls of dirt from the garden to his bucket.....

It was such a fun day. There is nothing like spending time with family and eating good food at the same time. It is also a bonus if you have cousins to run your kids out of energy!

Happy Easter week everyone! Here is to a four day working week instead of five!

I love this photo! This is all the grandchildren on the Oostendorp side and I just love how real it is! No fake happy faces in this shot!!

Mumma Essentials.

Saturday, March 21, 2015

Since Max was born I have discovered a whole new meaning to crazy and can't seem to find time to do a lot of the things I used to. So I thought I would share a few of the things that help me survive the day!

Big Mumma Shades.
Putting makeup on each day is so far down my list of priorities that most days it doesn't happen. Which is why I am a big fan of big sunnies. If I have to rush out or I need to get the kids to a park STAT to save my sanity then I chuck these on and no one can even tell I haven't put my day face on.

Go To Jeans.
Everyone has that pair of jeans that seem to be able to work for every occasion - if you don't go find some immediately and purchase them! For me its my boyfriend jeans that I can put on with any tee or jumper without much thought or trashing of my wardrobe. Plus they are so comfortable and dark enough to be baby vomit friendly.

Go To Stripe.
I love stripes. Anything with a stripe is going to hide a dirty mark better then most fabrics. With two boys dirty mark hiding is what I am about. I own about 10 of these tees. Most of mine (including this one) are from Big W and are only $6.

Face Wipes.
Most days I don't get to shower until the boys are in bed at night. Face wipes is my way of freshening up for the day and feeling some what clean!

Perfume.
For me perfume reminds me that I am a woman (not only a mum) so I love to start the day with a spray. It also hides the smell of that baby vomit that happened right after you got dressed and your hungry toddler allowed no time for an outfit change.

It is only a few things but for me when it comes to a smooth day every little thing counts.

Littles Monthly Update

Mannix - 3 Months
Maxy is growing so quickly I am scared to blink. This month he really said goodbye to his newborn face and has really started to look like a little boy. He has found his voice. If Max is awake you are sure to hear him squealing and babbling away to himself or his toys. I am guessing he will have a lot to say when he can. He absolutely loves to be scared in a game of pick-a-boo and starts laughing hysterically after every "boo".  His favourite toy is still his play mat where he will play happily hitting the toys that hang above his head. There are many attempts to roll over but I don't know what he plans to do once he rolls over as he still hates tummy time.

Atreyu Matthew Davison - 20 Months
Trey is so much fun. This is by far my favourite age. Trey loves being outside. If he is inside he is taking my hand to take me to the door to unlock it for him. Once he is out he loves to explore, drive his cars and play with Tupac. He could spend hours in the yard and won't even blink if it starts raining. He is starting to talk and is learning new words every day. This week he learnt how to play "duck, duck, goose!" and shocked everyone when he took his turn and said "duh, duh, goo". It was a proud mumma moment for sure. He doesn't quite understand that Max can't play yet and I have caught him a few times walking over to Max and giving him a few big taps on the head while saying "duh, duh, duh". I was quite shocked when he started calling me by my first name. I know get one chance at "mum" and if I don't answer straight away its "Maegan, Maegan, Maegan".

Both the boys are growing so quick and really forming such an amazing bond. They look at each other and you can already tell the love they have for each other. This month has really made me realise that I am in so over my head with these two!! Its going to be a rollacoaster raising these two and I can not wait!
